Such needs have effects not only on improvement in quality of life but also on the level of economic and social development. Consequently, using renewable energy might be able to resolve these existing problems right at one’s hand.
The Need for Renewable Energy
Solar, wind, and hydro are among the renewable energies that provide a possible sustainable and affordable solution to the supply of electricity and other essential services in very remotely situated or underdeveloped communities. This way, we can occupy those natural resources that supply us with constant and trustworthy energy to fuel our development, not harming the environment.
Access to Improved Basic Services: A Fundamental Right
Access to essential services like clean water and sanitation is a sine qua noncondition for health and well-being. It is, however, also something that, in the many rural and vulnerable areas of Colombia, comes in short supply or is simply lacking. Inadequate access to clean water and proper sanitation systems may mean the presence of diseases, very high infant mortality rates, and other serious issues relating to public health.
Projects Making a Difference
We, as a foundation, believe in changing their lives by coming up with renewable energy projects to Supply electricity and enhance access to basic services. Here are some projects we are trying to work on:
- Solar Panel Installation: The organization is installing solar panels in schools, health centers, and other community buildings of rural communities identified to remain without electricity to power lights, refrigerators storing vaccines, medical equipment, and water purification units.
- Water Collection and Purification Systems: We have ensured, with solar power, water collection and purification systems that make specific communities’ access to pure and safe water for consumption to reduce the prevalence of waterborne diseases.
- Infrastructure Improvement for Better Sanitation: The availability of renewable electricity has improved sanitation facilities—building toilets and installing wastewater treatment systems, thereby building a healthier and safer atmosphere.
